Beauty standards were placed and created by men to segregate humanity, encourage lookism, and push for women to conform to male desire.

The beauty standard for men is minimal, only involving physique standards such as athletic ability and, very rarely, tall stature. Society tends to forgive men for aging, being less harsh on them. For women, in society, their worth is based on her physical appearance, the beauty standard being much higher for them. A woman must have a youthful and attractive face. She must have rare, however natural body features such as a large bust and a prominent backside all while maintaining a skinny figure. She must have long, thick natural straight hair but must also not have body hair visible on her body. Beauty standards for men and women are highly unbalanced and often considered unfair.

Childhood

Since childhood, the feminine beauty ideal is shoved down girls’ throats partially through toys involving makeup, fashion, and dolls manufactured to look ‘beautiful’ according to the male gaze. Fairytales, teen movies, books, are also written to subconsciously teach women to be seen as physically attractive by men. These thoughts are usually permanently embedded in womens’ mind’s until death.

Youth

The beauty standard imposed on women is inextricably tied to youth not for fertility, as often claimed but for its direct association with submission, inexperience, and male dominance. Across media, fashion, and pornography, the ideal woman is one who appears barely out of adolescence. She is hairless, soft-voiced, wide-eyed, nonetheless having a seemingly sexually mature body.

This preference reveals a deep-rooted cultural tolerance and in many cases, celebration of pedophilic desire. It is profitable reflections of a system where the female body is more valuable the less developed, the less experienced, and the less defiant it appears.
